8th Grade Washington, D.C. Trip Information

Posted Date: 08/20/26 (06:54 PM)

Dear 8th Grade Families,

We are excited to begin planning for the 8th Grade Washington, D.C. overnight trip, which will take place June 9–11, 2027.

Please join us for an informational meeting on Wednesday, September 16, from 6:30–7:30 p.m. in the Middle School Cafeteria, immediately following Open House. We will share important information about the trip, including the approximate $750 cost, payment options, insurance, fundraising opportunities, and expectations for attendance, academics, and behavior.

  • We understand that $750 is a significant amount of money for many families. We will have several fundraising opportunities throughout the year to help families offset the cost of the trip. More information about these opportunities will be shared at the informational meeting.

We also ask that families take some time to review the behavioral, academic, and attendance expectations outlined in the attached information. Maintaining eligibility throughout the school year is an important part of being able to participate in the trip.

Our 8th grade class advisors, Jenny Wing (jwing@waynecsd.org) and Dane Foster (dfoster@waynecsd.org), will coordinate the trip and travel with the group to Washington, D.C.

We are looking forward to sharing more information and beginning the planning for what we hope will be a memorable experience for our 8th graders! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.
