FAQ Washington Trip

  1. When is the trip?

The trip is June 10 - 12, 2026.  Students will need to arrive at school with a parent/guardian at 6:30 am and report to the cafeteria.  Students will need to be picked up by a parent/guardian when we return. Pick-up is usually around  9:30 - 10:30 pm.

  1. When is Wayne's Registration (last page of packet)due?

ASAP.  This will give us an idea of how many students will be attending the trip. It does not bind you to attending the trip.  It is due no later than the first deposit.

  1. Why is the deposit money collected before the due date?

Checks and money orders need to be collected two weeks before the due date to ensure all checks are cleared.  The class writes one check to the school district and does not have the funds to cover bounced checks.

  1. How will we know how much money we owe for the trip?

Students will receive an invoice that will show how much money they have fundraised as well as their portion of the deposit still owed.

  1. Can parents chaperone?

The trip is chaperoned by Wayne Central employees only.

  1. My child takes medication.  How will that be handled on the trip?

We will have a nurse and/or administrator who will attend the trip with us and handle all medications.

  1. How are roommates selected?

All rooms have 4 students.  In the spring after the final payment, students will complete rooming in lunch.  They will be encouraged to find a buddy to share the room with.  They may find another set of buddies to complete their room of 4.  All rooming assignments will be reviewed, and final decisions will be made by the advisors and administration.

  1. What if my child decides not to go on the trip after they have paid the first payment?

There are no refunds unless you purchase travel insurance.  Full coverage travel insurance only covers illness or accidents and must be purchased at the time of the first payment.  1st payment includes a $75.00 non-refundable deposit.  Cancel for any reason insurance is also available. It only provides a 50% refund and must be purchased at the time of the first payment. In the event of the entire trip being canceled, the remaining balance will be refunded as long as the travel agency receives refunds from the vendors.

  1. Are there any reasons my child would not be able to participate in the trip?

Trip Eligibility requirements:

  1.  Attendance: maintain regular attendance in school.  You must not have more than 5 unexcused absences. (We know sometimes there are exceptions and will consider that.)

  1. Academics: Be academically eligible according to the Code of Conduct. This is the same as a sport or club.

     3.   Behavior: Maintain acceptable school behavior.  Any involvement with or

being under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or in possession of

weapons while on school property or at any school-sponsored activity

means automatic ineligibility.

You MUST not accumulate more than 6 administrative discipline points

during the 2025 - 2026 school year.  (Points started on 9/16/2025)

  • Lunch detention or 3 pm detention = ½ point
  • Administrative detention = 1 point
  • 1 day of In-school suspension = 3 points
  • 1 day of out-of-school suspension = 6 points

  1. What if my child has food allergies or other concerns?

Reach out to Mrs. Wing or Mr. Heinsler, and they will work with you to make the trip safe.
