Library Mission Statement

The mission of the Wayne Central Middle School Library is to foster a collaborative environment where all students can access learning. Our goal is to promote lifelong learning, critical thinking, effective communication, creative problem-solving and effective decision making in order to become reflective, analytical, and evaluative thinkers and communicators who will be competitive in an increasingly global society.

To support this mission, the Wayne Central Middle School Library will provide a comprehensive collection of literary resources, informational text, digital media, databases, and references materials. Technology will be used to stretch students' imagination, strengthen their engagement, and increase their understanding and achievement. This Library will work collaboratively to support students and staff in their pursuit of both academic and independent research, reading for pleasure, and culturally diverse literature.

The Middle School Library is committed promoting Intellectual Freedom for the community it serves. Intellectual freedom is the right of library users to read, seek information, and speak freely as guaranteed by the First Amendment. Intellectual freedom is one of the core values of the library profession; it promotes access to information and guides the defense against censorship.
