All members of our school community should be able to see themselves and their circumstances represented in the stories and resources in our collection. When we succeed in this endeavor, all of our students can become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information. Through diverse literature, we can explore how to navigate difficult situations, overcome adversity, solve problems, and learn from mistakes...all from the safe distance provided in a book. Through diverse literature, we learn compassion, understanding, and tolerance of those who are different from us by seeing the world through someone else's eyes.
